This festive season, we were invited to participate in the Penrith Panthers’ Trees of Hope, an initiative held annually as a way to acknowledge and build awareness of local charities. This year, eight incredible charities decorated Christmas trees in their foyer, and it was an honour to be one of them.
From 14 November to 15 December, Penrith Panthers members, staff, and directors were invited to vote for their favourite tree, with $9,000 in prize money being shared among the winners.
Each tree is a celebration of the vital work these organisations do for our vibrant and diverse community. This opportunity to connect with the community and spread the word about our purpose, our much-needed services, and our person-centred approach was a true gift.
Our stunning tree, lovingly decorated by Caitlin Boss, Mary Donnelly, Julia Cognet, and Gail Searle, radiated the vibrant colours of magenta, turquoise, and gold, symbolising connection, heart and the gift of life.
Together, these colours reflect the essence of Cancer Wellness Support and our purpose of providing person-centred, affordable and accessible care for local people living with cancer and their families.
The team’s creativity, love and energy flowed into making our tree a standout, and we couldn’t be prouder of their efforts.
On 18 December, the winner was announced, and it went to TOTS Blanket Challenge!
While we didn’t take away the win, one of the standouts of the whole campaign was being able to meet with clients and carers who shared their stories with us, and how Cancer Wellness Support was a light of hope for them.
We also loved connecting with other local charities, including the TOTS Blanket Challenge team, who generously donate their handmade blankets to our wellness centres.
We congratulate everyone for their fabulous efforts for their Trees of Hope:
- Luke Priddis Foundation
- Penrith Community Kitchen

A huge thank you to Penrith Panthers for organising this incredible initiative and providing a platform for charities to shine during the festive season. We are so grateful for the opportunity to share our story, connect with new supporters, and be part of something so meaningful.
To everyone who shared our posts, stopped by to admire the trees and garner support, as well as those who cast a vote (or many) over the voting period – we thank you for your support and we look forward to participating again in 2025.
